The Labour MP for Brentford and Isleworth in south-west London, Ann Keen, has been both a tutor nurse and district nurse.

The event in Harrogate, Yorkshire, is organised by the RCN with the DoH and National Patient Safety Agency.

The keynote address is by Martin Kiernan, nurse consultant for prevention and control of infection at Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust.
