GP petitions Gordon Brown against imposed contract

Staffordshire GP Dr Mark Oliver is urging GPs to sign a petition on the Number 10 website against the government plan to impose contract change on the profession.

It reads: ‘We the undersigned petition ask the prime minister to desist from unilaterally changing the GP contract, an action that was supposed to have occurred only in the event of a national emergency.

‘They are doing so purely to override negotiated change. The credibility of government in negotiated contracts is at stake here.'
