GP income falls for GMS and PMS practices

UK GMS GP income fell 2.6% in 2006/7 to £103,530, according to figures released by the NHS Information Centre today.

Average PMS GP income decreased by 1.5% in the same period to £118,499.

This means that the average GP on either contract had an income of £107,667, a decrease of 2.1%.

Average expenses for all GPs increased by 3.5% to £139,694.

GMS dispensing GP income decreased by 0.7% to £124,045. PMS dispensing GP income increased by 1% to £135,546.

The average gross earnings for salaried GPs was £60,137.
