GP contract poll results to be announced today

The GPC was planning to announce the result of its 12-day poll into new GMS contract change today.

The poll ran from Monday 18 to Friday 29 February.

GPs were asked a series of questions including whether they backed Option A (the original DoH offer) or Option B (the DoH imposition).

The offer involves GPs working an extra 30 minutes per 1,000 patients per week with a guaranteed 1.5 per cent increased investment in general practice.

The imposition would see the average practice £36,000 worse off with the opportunity to earn some of that back through extended hours depending upon the PCT's wishes.
