What is RSS?

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It's an easy way to keep updated by accessing news from all your favourite sites from just one place. It can tell you every time the news you want is updated, without having to visit each site.

How can I make use of RSS?

To use RSS, you need to get hold of an application called a news reader.

This software checks the RSS feeds and lets you read the headlines and, sometimes, the introduction of the new article. Clicking on the story titles takes you to the full article.

There are many RSS news readers available. Google has a comprehensive directory of the main readers.

Online RSS news readers such as netvibes allow you to customise the page so that you can position your favourite news feeds at the top.

Modern internet browsers such as Firefox and Internet Explorer 7 allow you bookmark your news feeds as you would bookmark a page on the internet.
