General practice strategy devised

GPC Northern Ireland has developed a strategy paper with the RCGP that aims to maintain and build on the role of general practice over the next decade.

The document explores current and future challenges facing general practice and how to tackle them in the period from 2008 to 2018. It lists key motions from last year's conference, which form 'crucial elements' of the strategy paper.

Action areas and plans for addressing them are set out, with each rated for importance.

The paper sets out each concern, how to tackle it, the timeframe in which this should be done, and the organisations that must be involved.

Meanwhile the UK GPC this week launched Developing General Practice, Listening to Patients to 'encourage debate between GPs and patients'.
