Free prescriptions rejected in Scotland

A campaign to scrap prescription charges in Scotland has been rejected by health minister Andy Kerr. Mr Kerr said that the idea, put forward by the Scottish Socialist Party, for universally free prescriptions as they have in Wales, would be expensive and a poor use of money. 'The executive policy remains that it is right that patients that can afford to, should continue to contribute towards NHS dispensing costs,' he said.
