First conference for Association of Surgeons in Primary Care

The Association of Surgeons in Primary Care (ASPC) is to hold its first conference this weekend in Stratford upon Avon.

The ASPC was set up in 2006 to help GPs provide surgical services in primary care.

The work fits in with the aims of the DoH’s primary care White Paper from 2006 which promoted shifting surgery procedures from hospitals into the community.

President of the ASPC Dr Raj Dhumale, who is a GPSI in Cornwall, said: ‘There has been a great response from GPs since we were founded.

‘This weekend will see our first conference which is fully booked. There are 35 delegates that have registered to attend, as well as many more people that will arrive on the day.’
