A range of short courses and modules are now enrolling at Education for Health, the Warwick-based independent education and research institution for health professionals, which is a merger between the National Respiratory Training Centre and Heartsave. The institution provides professional health training across the fields of cardiovascular disease and respiratory health.

Forthcoming short courses include a series of regional allergy workshops through April and May, asthma (24 April) and an introduction to COPD and spirometry (26 April). Overcoming Insomnia and Sleep Problems is the latest addition to the series of 'Overcoming... self-help guides', published by Constable & Robinson.

It is written by Professor Colin Espie, professor of clinical psychology and director of the Sleep Research Laboratory at the University of Glasgow, and uses the principles of cognitive behavioural therapy as a treatment for insomnia.

Guidance given includes how to improve your sleeping environment, developing good bedtime routines, learning to relax and more effective use of sleeping pills. Copies of the book are priced at £9.99.
