The report compares the period July-September 2008 with the same three months a year earlier.

The rises are in sharp contrast to general practice where three successive income freezes have seen more than half of partners forced to take a pay cut.

Yesterday the NHS Information Centre revealed that practice nurse and health visitor pay increased by 10%.

Earlier this week Healthcare Republic reported that manager pay increased 9%.
