CMO urges review of 24-hour licensing change

CMO for England Sir Liam Donaldson has said he would welcome a review of 24-hour licensing.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, the CMO said: ‘Some of us worried about the decision when it was brought in and any review of the policy would be welcome.’The relaxation of licensing laws was introduced in November 2005.The Conservative Party welcomed the comments. Shadow health secretary Andrew Lansley said: ‘Recent work at St Thomas’s and St George’s hospitals in London has shown very worrying levels of drink-related attendances at A&E over night.’
