CMO admits that MTAS has made system worse

The CMO for England Sir Liam Donaldson has admitted that the Medical Training and Application Service (MTAS) made it harder to identify good candidates for hospital jobs.

In his annual report published this week, Sir Liam said it aimed 'to create an equitable process', but admitted that 'too many changes occurred at once'.

As a result the application form might have 'made discernment of good candidates more difficult', he said.
