Child obesity is a form of neglect say experts

Obesity has been a consideration in at least 20 child protection cases in the last year and some doctors are now saying that overfeeding of children is a form of neglect, according to a study undertaken by the BBC.

The BBC contacted around 50 consultant paediatricians to produce the findings of their study, asking them whether they though child obesity would ever be considered a child protection issue.

The British Medical Association will debate a motion on this subject at the end of June.
