About the DVD and Dr Peter Tate

The scripts have been written by GP communication expert Dr Peter Tate to reflect the realities of modern consulting. After each consultation he uses clips from the video to review the successes and failures of each interaction, providing learning points and topics for further discussion.

The Effective Consulting DVD is ideal for GPs at any stage of their careers seeking to enhance their consulting skills for training, CPD or revalidation purposes. The format is also highly suitable for group learning.

Dr Peter Tate was an MRCGP examiner from 1981 and responsible for the introduction of the video consultation module in 1996. He was convenor of the panel of examiners from 2002 to 2006. He is the author of The Doctor's Communication Handbook, now in its sixth edition, and co-author of The Consultation and The New Consultation, published by Oxford University Press.
