Burnham set to replace Warner in DoH reshuffle

Leigh MP Andy Burnham has been confirmed as the minister responsible for GPs following the retirement last month of Lord Warner.

Mr Burnham has been a DoH minister since May 2006, overseeing delivery and quality. He is now responsible for delivery and reform. The 37-year-old was elected to represent the Manchester constituency in 2001.

The new minister for quality is Lord Philip Hunt of King's Heath, who returns to the DoH after chairing a House of Lords select committee in 2003, and recently served as a junior minister for Work and Pensions.
