The HSA is designed for administrators or receptionists in-post and is suitable for those employed in both primary and secondary care. Students will be provided with practical and personal skills to enable them to develop and progress as an administrator within the healthcare sector. The minimum guided learning hours for the course will be 30, and to achieve the qualification candidates will need to gain a pass in the nationally set assignment. The HSA will be available from AMSPAR approved centres from September 2007.
AMSPAR Chief Executive Tom Brownlie comments, ‘AMSPAR is pleased to introduce this new qualification. This follows the accreditation of our new Level 2 Award in Medical Terminology for Non-Clinical Professionals by the QCA, so it is an exciting time for AMSPAR. We have produced both these new qualifications in response to the demand of employers. AMSPAR is committed to devising quality training for non-clinical healthcare staff and committed to assisting lifelong learning.’
1. Other AMSPAR qualifications accredited by the QCA are the Level 2 Intermediate Diploma in Medical Reception, Level 3 Certificate in Medical Terminology for Non-Clinical Professionals, Level 3 Advanced Diploma for Medical Secretaries and Level 5 Diploma in Primary Care Management.
2. The regulators are QCA, DCELLS (Wales), and CEA (Northern Ireland)
