Alzheimer's Society gives GP project £5,000

A GP practice in Staffordshire has won £5,000 from the Alzheimer's Society for a project to identify and support patients at risk of vascular dementia. The practice will create a register of at-risk patients and assign a health visitor to each patient. The health visitor will then offer specialist advice and guidance. Dr Ian Greaves, of the Gnosall Health Centre, said: 'If we are to identify those people who are most likely to develop vascular dementia, it is vital that dementia specialists, mental health and primary care staff work together.'
