Chris Lancelot - General practice must weigh anchor to survive stormy seas

Why does general practice lurch from crisis to crisis? These are so frequent as to be cyclical, like the tide. The biggest was in the 1960s, when GPs submitted their undated resignations; there was one in the 1990s over out-of-hours; and another just before the new contract made general practice popular again.
