RCGP buys new central London headquarters
By Neil Durham, 26 March 2010
The RCGP has bought a new central London location and will move there by summer 2012.
The College has purchased a grade 2-listed building next to Euston station which is more than four times larger than its current headquarters in Princes Gate, central London, where it has been based for almost half a century.
It will move from there to interim accommodation in St Katherine Docks near to Tower Bridge in central London in August.
The College's clinical skills assessment centre in Croydon, south London, will not be affected by the move to temporary accommodation but will be relocated in the new premises in 2012.
The new building will include a 300-seat lecture theatre.
Dr Colin Hunter, RCGP honorary treasurer, said: ‘Our new headquarters in Euston are stunning and will provide fantastic facilities for members. The project represents an unparalleled investment on behalf of our membership and patients and is the realisation of several years' planning. We will keep College members informed every step of the way, both directly and with information available on our website.'
The move will be funded by the sale of the College's current headquarters and will not require an increase to members' subscriptions.
