Scottish LMCs Conference 2010: Struggling practices should be given extra funding
By Susie Sell, 11 March 2010
Scottish LMCs will debate whether practices that are 'genuinely struggling' to provide appropriate access to their patients should be provided with extra funding, at their annual conference today.
LMC representatives at the conference, which is being held in Clydebank, will debate the motion that suggests a reduction in funding would ‘inevitably result in further challenges to patient access'.
The motion follows repeated concerns from Scottish LMCs that the patient experience survey should not be linked to practice funding.
Scottish LMCs will also call on the GPC (Scotland) to come up with solutions to ensure a significant number of newly qualified GPs have the opportunity of becoming partners in general practice.
A discussion will also take place on whether changes to community nursing and health visiting is destroying the concept of the primary care practice team.
GP newspaper will be there to bring you all the latest news and views from the conference. Click back here to see the latest from the conference.
