GP-led group backs Tories to challenge 'poor' practices

Conservative plans to link GP pay to outcomes and increase accountability have been backed by the National Association of Primary Care (NAPC).

It says the quality of UK primary care is ‘variable' and the Tory approach is needed to 'challenge poorly performing practices'.
Mike Ramsden, the NAPC's chief executive officer, said: 'Although the standard of primary healthcare in this country is, overall, very high, there remains too much variability in its quality. Such an approach is required to challenge poorly performing practices. These proposals are exactly what are now needed to tackle some of the key issues which currently face us.'
