DoH recommends pay freeze for majority of practices

The government has submitted evidence to the Doctor's and Dentist's Review Body (DDRB) that will mean an overall global sum uplift of 2.6% for non-MPIG practices, but nothing for the majority.
Funding for GP practices could be more equitable
If the deal is accepted by the DDRB it would mean 60% of practices with an MPIG will receive nothing at all, while 8% of practices would come off MPIG and receive a small uplift to their global sum.
The recommended uplift across all practices is just 0.5% - but due to the use of a 'recycling' formula like in 2009/10, the 32% of GMS practices that do not receive an MPIG would gain, on average, a 2.6% increase in their global sum.
The four UK health departments are committed to 'pushing harder to erode MPIG,' and making funding for GP practices more equitable, the evidence says.
Talks with GPC negotiators broke down after they requested a minimum 1.4% uplift and a guarantee that those on MPIG would receive a share of the cash too.
In October, NHS Employers called for a 1% pay uplift for both partners and staff, but expects practices to make 1% efficiency savings.
