Scouts deliver swine flu jab letters for practice

A troop of 30 girl and boy Scouts beat the postal strike for GPs at one of Bristol's largest practices desperate to call up patients for their swine flu jab.

The Scouts hand delivered 2,500 letters to high-risk under-65s in their half term holidays, earning their troop a handsome voluntary donation from the grateful doctors at Whitchurch Health Centre. GP Dr Martin Jones hit on the idea.
Practice manager Steve Davies said: ‘We didn't want to compete with Royal Mail. We knew we could trust the Scouts.'
