Public say doctors need swine flu jab

By Tom Moberly, 23 October 2009

A total of 86 per cent of the general public think health professionals should have swine flu jabs, DoH data show.

Primary care organisations have begun campaigns to boost uptake, with leaflets urging staff to get the jab included in payslips by some trusts.

Oxfordshire and North Staffordshire PCTs are sending information about the importance of seasonal and swine flu vaccination in payslips.

Other PCTs are using staff magazines, newsletters and briefings, a GP request for information found.

Devon PCT and other nearby trusts are taking 'a robust line', and aim to vaccinate at least 80 per cent of staff.

Fewer than 20 per cent of health workers have the seasonal flu vaccination, according to DoH statistics.
