The RCN Welfare Rights and Guidance Service, which boasts financial advisors, is highlighted.

Detailed advice on negotiating mortgage and rent payments as well as information on introducing credit or payment proposals, individual voluntary arrangements and debt relief orders is given.

Dr Peter Carter, the RCN's chief executive and general secretary, said: ‘This practical guidance is intended to provide some reassurance for any nurses facing financial uncertainty for any reason. It is an invaluable guide for members facing short-term concerns through to longer term difficulties.'
