Average GP practice to lose £1,800 in QOF funding

The average GP practice in England will lose £1,800 in QOF funding because of the changes to the patient survey.
Only 17.4% of practices in 2008/9 scored the maximum points for the patient experience domain, according to latest figures from the NHS Information Centre.
In 2007/8, 94.5% of practices achieved the maximum points for the domain.
Wiltshire GP Dr Gavin Jamie, a QOF statistics expert, said: ‘The changes this year were pretty minor. Lots of "easier" points went, mostly from the organisational and holistic areas and were added to the patient survey area.
‘A total of 58.5 points were based on the survey, nearly 6% of the total.
‘The entire drop in average points has been in the patient experience domain.'
An average loss of 14 points compared with last year is around £1,800 for the mythic "typical" practice, said Dr Jamie.
