Removing practice boundaries will be complex and expensive, GPC warns

The abolition of practice boundaries is not wise in the NHS's current financial situation, the GPC has said.
GPC chairman Dr Laurence Buckman spoke to Healthcare Republic about the problems the DoH will have to overcome.
This week health secretary Andy Burnham announced that patients will be allowed to register with any GP in the country by Autumn 2010.
The new rules would mean that patients could choose to register with a practice near their place of work, rather than only those near their home address.
However, the GPC has said that removing practice boundaries will be complicated to implement and more expensive than current arrangements.
