NAPC warns of U-turn on PBC

11 September 2009

The NAPC has launched an 'emergency summit' to investigate reports of PCTs withdrawing support for practice-based commissioning (PBC).

The association is urging GPs to report PCTs that are dropping support, after warnings from several PBC consortia.

NAPC primary care consultant Maggie Marum told GP: 'Even where there are serious players in PBC, which have been successful, PCTs are just doing their own thing without them.

'It is worrying that even the consortia that have made great achievements are receiving negative messages.'

NAPC chairman Dr Johnny Marshall urged PCTs to 'join with clinical leaders on the ground'.

The NAPC summit takes place on 6 October.
