NAPC warns of U-turn on PBC
By Nick Bostock, 08 September 2009
The National Association of Primary Care (NAPC) has launched an 'emergency summit' to investigate reports of PCTs withdrawing support for practice-based commissioning (PBC).
The NAPC is urging GPs to report PCTs dropping support, after warnings from several PBC consortia.
NAPC primary care consultant Maggie Marum said: ‘Even where there are serious players in PBC, which have been successful, PCTs are just doing their own thing without them.
The NAPC summit takes place on 6 October and will report on GPs' concerns to the DoH.
NAPC chairman Dr Johnny Marshall urged PCTs to ‘join with clinical leaders on the ground'.
