When Mr Fry tweeted about charity Elephant Family in 2010, promising to kiss the highest bidder online, he sparked thousands of pounds in donations.
Dr Chand’s (@KailashChandOBE) e-petiton has currently reached 37,872.
Former deputy prime minister John Prescott (@JohnPrescott) has pledged to post a video of him singing should it reach 50,000 signatures, half the number it needs be debated in the House of Commons (100,000).
