The subcommittee now has 15 members, and has been delegated authority to act on issues that relate wholly or primarily to sessional GPs.
Ten new members were elected. The sessional GP subcommittee was expanded as part of reforms to bolster representation of sessional GPs.
Dr Vicky Weeks, chairwoman of the sessional GPs subcommittee, called the elections an 'exciting step forward'.
'Enhancing the representation of salaried and locum GPs was a key recommendation of the BMA's working group,' she said.
'The newly elected subcommittee will play a fundamental role in tackling the big issues facing this expanding and important section of the GP workforce.'
