MIMS Handbook of Cardiology

15 April 2010

The fourth edition of the MIMS Handbook of Cardiology, is designed to provide the clinician with a comprehensive and easy-to-access overview of current practice in UK cardiological management. As with previous editions, it has been written, updated and reviewed by leading UK specialists.

A useful glossary of commonly used cardiology terms is provided in Chapter 1. Chapter 2, which reviews the management of common cardiological conditions such as heart failure and pericarditis, includes a new angina section discussing the cardiological continuum. Cardiological emergencies such as acute coronary syndrome are explained in Chapter 3, while investigations and pharmacological treatments are reviewed in Chapters 4 and 5. The appendices include a pictorial guide to ECGs, fitness to drive with cardiological conditions, an overview of the GMS contract and relevant National Service Frameworks.

This new edition has been completely redesigned and features full-colour illustrations and algorithms.
