30 per cent of practices open extended hours

Nearly 30 per cent of practices in England are already offering extended hours, according to DoH figures for June.

Despite the fact there is still no official guidance on the terms of the directed enhanced service, 35 PCTs have already achieved the government’s target, with at least half of their practices open late on evenings and on weekends.

But there are still 40 PCTs that have no practices offering extended hours at all.

The figures are based on data from 8,292 practices across England.
